Sensor in front of oil filter 1991 3vze

I have a sensor with a male spade terminal coming out of the block right in front of the oil filter.
what is it a sensor for? and does that affect how the truck is running?
because it's unplugged and I dont see wht connector might plug in around there

sounds like something I want to be seeing.
is there supposed to be an idiot light for it?

what sort of signal does it send? as in, can I buy an aftermarket gauge and use that sender?
otherwise, what thread is it? so i can find an appropriate adapter to go to an aftermarket sender/gauge

Most gauges should come with their own sender, usually a matched set type thing. Mine (Isspro) came with different adapters to use as well.

If you don't have a factory oil pressure gauge (SR5 cluster) you must have an idiot light. If you want both an aftermarket gauge and the idiot light there is probably a 2nd port unused next to it for another sensor.

This is a pic of a 5VZFE but IIRC your 3VZ should be similar. One hole with the oil dripping out is where I put an oil temp gauge.

got the sender and gauge in he stock oil pressure switch hole but gauge is reading funny.
has all the correct motions but once warm, at idle it reads zero, or even below zero psi.

still trying to track down why.... 99% sure the engine has enough pressure.

will the upwards angle of the stock port trap bubbles and cause issues?

also, for reference, what pressures are people seeing at cold startup, idle, high rpms, etc

Are you sure you got the right one? There is 2 different ones. One for the real gauge, and one if you have the idiot light.
