Second gen body swap

Alright I am trying to tackle the biggest body swap of all time I have 1986 pickup I have done a S.A.S on with an ATK 22re rebuilt w56 tranny with and a RF1A topshift transfer case

my family is now bigger so I purchased a 1992 4runner with a ˟˟˟˟ty 3vze a ˟˟˟˟ty A34OH tranny and a VF2A ˟˟˟˟ty t case

I want to put the 4runner body onto my 86 frame I am going to measure and see the difference in body mounts does anyone have any other suggestion or thing's I might run into that I should address right away before I start?

Id swap the drive train and move the SAS parts on the newer frame and body verses swapping bodies. just my 2 cents

Hmm.. If you've got the Fab skills, a suspension swap would probably be less time consuming. If you don't, the body swap would definitely be easier. So long as the mounts match

there is definitely less fab work doing the body swap I have done tons of S.A.S on second gen pickups but this is my first second gen runner I was told that the w56 transmission will not bolt up to the 3vze transmission ?

I did this swap in high school with a first gen 4runner body. on the second gen 2 of the rear mounts will be different from the first gen. the cab mounts will all line up on the front(cab end) the rear(bed end) will need the body mounts cut off and some lowered to accommodate the lower body of the rear seats instead of a truck bed also the locations are slightly different. in my opinion the suspension swap would be less time consuming. you will have to do some wiring swapage and re wire the gauge cluster to work. also the gas tank will need to be swapped as it is too tall for the 4runner body, at least on mine the body smashed the top of the tank and i had to switch to a 4runner tank. the fuel door is in a different location so the filler hose will need swapped as well. it took me 3 days granted i was nineteen and the sas i did on my second gen took 2 days when i was 25 and had a shop to use. either way the body swap might be less time consuming but there are a lot of little doodads that need to be taken care of to make it work. the suspension swap might be more labor intensive but more of a straight forward in a less steps kind of way than the body swap

just re read the drivetrain swap part, not sure how i missed it. i would just do the body swap that would be way easier than swapping suspension and drivetrain.

Perfect that is the info I wanted to hear aha I bobbed my frame at the shackles on my pickup so I am going to make my own rear section and add a fuel cell under the body where the spare tire is located and get rid of that rock loving stock tank
