seat harness
so the yesterday my dad freaked out telling me that i can't drive my 88 4runner with the doors off unless i have at least a 3 point harness and tube doors and i negotiated with him and agreed that if i install a 5 point harness that i wont have to install the tube doors wit it. well i was wondering if anyone knows if i will need to buy new seats to install the 5 point harness, i don't want to destroy the oem seats that came with the truck. also has anyone one installed a 5 point harness before and could give me some tips on what to do and what kind i should buy? any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have not installed one but I know safety restraint systems, ie. the 5 point harness is not a place I would look to save money. After all once you have hit the ground at 60 you really appreciate the protection of staying inside the truck.
I hit the ground at or around 60 twice on a quad. It really sucks. Getting tangled up in that 300lbs machine damn near killed me. Imagine what a 4000lbs machine would do to you.

I think it's possible to do if you have bucket seats, which I'm pretty sure you have since you've got a 4runner. You will likely have to install either a roll cage or a bar behind the seat for mounting to. Lots of ricer's do the 5point harness in their "race cars" - something similar to this:
with something like that installed though, not sure about passenger access to the 2nd row seating. If you're going to go doorless often i'd think about getting something on the door - either tube or half doors. i used to roll around doorless on my old k5 blazer and have had things roll out the cab -- IIRC only Heeps and vehicles with the "lip" at the rocker panel that keeps things from rolling out are "legally" allowed to run doorless - might only matter to the cop looking for something to ticket you for.
another option is to make a new mounting system for your seat that includes harness mounting points like this:
