Runs like crap after heavy rain

I have a '95 4runner with the 3VZE engine that runs like crap after a heavy rain. It will not rev past 2500 rpm or shift. After 10 min. it will dry out and run normal. I have changed the wires, distributor cap and rotor and seafoamed the engine with no improvement. What am I missing?
And yes, I did a search. The only thread I found was old, the last post was a couple of years ago and no one has responded to my post on that thread because it is buried so far back.
Thanks, in advance, for any help.

Did you remember the rubber O-ring on the distributer. That would be my first guess. Could it be the coil, or the igniter as both have high voltage I believe, I'm really well versed on the ignition system.

Basically, moisture and high voltage don't mix.

The distributor cap didn't come with an O-ring and the old one didn't have one so I didn't think it needed one. I'll try to find one, but I don't know where, I doubt the dealer will have just an O-ring.

Same thing happened to mine awhile back. Check for cracks around the intake system. Mine has a gap between the airflow meter (thing on top of the intake box) and the intake box. It has a bad gasket.

Take a spray bottle full of water and start spraying stuff.
Make sure to spray the o2 sensors.

Good idea, this would be the best diagnostic strategy. I though the distributor had an O-ring, maybe I'm wrong.
