Running a 3vze radiator on a 22re?

Is anyone running the larger 3vze 6cyl radiator on a 22re..I have a good, same year 4 runner radiator id like to run in the truck..a 3vze radiator is designed to use a shroud but also has worked without one after the fan blades came apart destroying the shroud, it was run without..and the space between fan and radiator surface will probably be different..its easy enough to just hook it up and see how it works but im just wondering if anyones already done this.

On my old 1990 that I rolled I ran that radiator,it's taller, but still fits. The upper hose gets kinked alittle, but you can get it to fit pretty good with some creativity. I was lazy and ran mine kinked and it still overcooled a little. My friend is running the same thing without a shroud abd has no problems either.I'm gonna swap mine out of my rolled truck into my 87 turbo when I have the time. You want make sure it's good radiator of it's used though, they like to leak at the top seam and the top tank likes to crack, and the solder joint on the fill neck likes to leak. I also see alot of those come into the radiator shop partially plugged/restricted. It all depends on the age and how it's been maintained. If you get a new one,try to find a all metal one that is from visteon, that manufacterer seems to make the best quality one I've seen. Pretty much all brand new radiators now days are crap. If you find a used one for cheap with good tanks you can have it re-cored too. I prefer pacific cores, they are well built cores. And make sure the radiator repairman blocks off the end rows of tubes and uses extra solder at all joints, especially the seams.

I did years ago - IIRC, the mounting holes are slightly different so just had to drill 4 new bolt holes. Once you slide it into place, you'll see what needs to be done - otherwise it's a simple swap that'll get you a slightly bigger radiator

yea coper and brass are the best, you can repair them hundreds of times way better than plastic and aluminum in my opinion

+ contrary to popular belief, copper transmits heat better than aluminum

I am running a 95 4runner Radiator in my 81 Pickup 22r. I had to cut the underside of the hood a little bit, but it works great. I had a slight heat issue and it solved it.

I also had to nix the factory skid plate because the radiator hung lower than the stock one. It is still high enough to be protected though.
