Just picked up a 86 22re... with some sputtering issues. I've dug around on the forum, but havent found anything. Here it goes

Starts a right up, idles poorly until I give it a couple revs. Then idles fine. Sputters on acceleration until higher revs are reached. Always returns to a nice smooth idle.

If I run the rev the engine without load, engine revs smooth until a certain point, mid throttle, and then begins to lope...

Any thoughts?
