Replacing the Stock Coil on 22RE
I have been having idle problems and missing through RPM range even though throttle response isn't terrible. Last night I went through a lot of components looking for answers: TPS, ign timing, EGR, etc., etc. Then I finally checked the coil resistence per the Haynes manual. Primary reads .002 and secondary reads 13.4. Primary is supposed to be 0.5 to 0.7. Unless my meter is bad, I think I have a bad Coil. Since I got the right measurement on the secondary, I want to say the meter is working right.
Anyone have suggestions about this diagnostic procedure?
Anyone replace stock coil with an aftermarket like Accel and would suggest a good brand?
I was thinking about this as a replacement since the primary and secondary specs are in line with what stock is supposed to be.
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Also, anyone went to the direct fire ignition like LCEngineering's

if tis just about the stock specs i say you should do it i mean there only about what 40 bucks or so cheaper then a few other things on here for our trucks and if it dont fix it clean it up and take it back!! lol
but i say do it take lots of pictures and let us know how it worked out for ya

As long as the resistance is the same, you should have no problems, but why go with accel, why not just a stock replacement. I mean its done you good for 21 years??

I guess if you get a stock ND (Nippo Denso) It would be good for another 21 years. I think there is a lot of crap out there that they pass off as factory stock though. Thanks for the suggestions.

I have a 'msd blaster coil' in mine, costs 40 bucks... and definately a noticable difference in idle/power... but I think the only reason i fealt a difference, was cause my old one was bad
