Replacing Stock Calipers With V6 Calipers ?.
I heard some guys talking about swapping V6 calipers on a solid front axle (85 4Runner) to improve braking. They were talking about doing the calipers only, is this possible ?. I know when when you swap over to vented rotors that you use V6 calipers, but is it possible to use the V6 calipers with the stock rotors ?.

Read the OPs question.
IFS calipers won't work on SFA rotors.
SFA rotors are solid on the trucks and 4Runners.
You need vented rotors off a LC to use on a SFA conversion to IFS calipers.
IFS vented rotors work with either V6 or 4cyl IFS calipers iirc.

Hmm interesting the 4runner I bought with SAS has stock solid rotors but the guy I bought it from says he put IFS v6 calipers on it. Havent checked all that closely but they are definitely 4 piston and look a lot like the calipers on my truck...

uhh... not unless you use FJ60 rotors...
Then they're a bolt-on...
But I'm waiting for floating rotors (IFS spindles with machined Tacoma rotor centers) so I won't even bother...
Makes changing a birf a snap.

As far as i know the "IFS 4x4" 22r and 3VZ-E have the same calipers and rotors. "SAS" is a whole nother ball game and there is no swaping from any other suspension but SAS

they have the same caliper bosses but the SFA has solid rotors so the caliper and brakes are thinner, and the IFS stuff is vented rotor so the caliper and brakes are wider.
same bosses though...
well worth $200 to me...

But I'm a parts hound and also have half the parts... So all I need to get is FJ60 rotors...
