Hey so i gotta replace my cv joint in my truck. What's the easiest way to do it? I was searching one place and it was talking about removing the control arm and stuff. Is there a short way to do it? Easy way?
Just wondering i've never done it before...

i guess you could unblot it off the diff and take the hubs apart and take that bolt off and slide it out the back but i dont how easily that would be for sure the truck would have to be jacked up off the ground

No you dont have to take the control arm off, I did mine following this how to.https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-w-pix-144314/

Only difference is I put my whole front end up on stands and left the rear down on the tires. The axles both slid right out. The hardest part was getting to the bolts holding the axles on and getting them to come loose. Other than that it is really easy.

uh yeah the fastest way to get to your cv joint would be take apart the hub, but be ready. your gonna need something like pb blaster to break apart all the crap on the 6 bolts that hold on the cv, and a breaker bar, and someone else probably. i took apart my right side about 6 months ago trying to find some type of leak and it was a total pain in the ass.

sweet! thanks for the help. I'm half way through now. got it outa my truck. gotta pick up a new one now. one i had as a spare isn't really looking as good as i thought. don't want it to go shortly after i get it in... there goes a 130 bucks... thanks for the suggestions though. they helped out.

if you have the ADD system check the flange that the cv slips into to turn the tire mine was stripped so check to make sure yours isnt getting that way

Best way, is to take the upper balljoint and unbolt it from the upper control arm, after you take the 6 bolts off the front diff.

to get mine off i had to take the bolt off of the shock at the bottom, so it turned out ok. got the new one today. gonna throw it in tomorrow morning... see how that goes. turns out my cv axle was 150 bucks... but i got a 3yr 60k warranty on it, so it's not so bad.

Guys, I bought 2 brand new ones from Auto zone for only 132$, that comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Looks like I'll be doing it myself tho, the guy I bought the truck from was gonna put them in but he hasn't called me back in 2 weeks now and I'm getting pissed.

well I went back yesterday and it seems to be almost ready, th PO put in the new axles and now he has to get it running and keep it running till I go get it without doing some hack job getting it running. Guess I'll find out in a few days.
