Replacing 22re in my new 92 truck

I am new to YotaTech. I have had Toyota trucks since I was 16. Two 1985's trucks and one 1990 truck. One of the 1985s I just couldn't sell and still drive daily and love. I just bought a 1992 Toyota 4 wheel drive truck from my brother but it needs a new motor. I am planning on putting a new 22re in myself but, I haven't dealed with fuel injected much and I was wondering if there were any big issues I should be aware of before I start. Any help would be appreciated.

welcome!!!

mechanically, it's nearly identical to the 85's engine so you should be somewhat familiar with the engine layout and all that.
label your vacuum hoses etc., watch the wiring.

so why does it need a new engine?

My brother put 265,000 miles on it and it starting making knocking noises and lost all power. He didn't want to deal with it so he sold it to me for real cheap.

guess that's as good a reason as any.

but yeah, if you're just removing and replacing the engine, should be straight forwards. obvious stuff- support the trans before disconnecting the engine from it, little common sense stuff like that. and like I said above- label the hoses.

Just label everything and don't forget to label your electrical lines as well as vacuum. Put new seal on the injectors and torque everything to specs.
