I have seen on here before that there are some vacuum systems on the 22RE that can be removed. Can anyone give me a list of the systems that can be removed? Any post that tells how to do it? what to remove and what has to be plugged?

All of the vacuum systems are there to improve performance, drivability, and to reduce emissions. You can remove any of them, as long as you don't care about performance, drivability, or emissions.

Do you think following some list you find on the internet someplace has any chance of improving your truck?

The only ones I really found that didn't have any issue was the power steering vacuum lines. I had to use a power steering pump from a carb truck on an EFI truck. I went thru the stage of removing and capping off vac lines and it just caused issues for me. I eventually went back to keeping them on.

I like an engine bay with less in it as well, but it more trouble then it is worth in my opinion. I would suggest buying several feet of vacuum line and replacing all the old lines with new. That fixes several minor issues.

There's other systems that can be removed without causing to many problems. There's people on here that have done it. I was just looking at a nice red 4Runner on here the other day that had done it. Looked great. Just can't remember who it was.

Independent front suspension was put on it to improve drivability. Does that mean we all like it? No.

Sometimes emissions equipment reduces performance. Ask anyone with a diesel that has a DEF system on it.

Emissions? No smog tests in the Georgia mountains.

Some list I find on the Internet? Wow! No, I'm asking on yotatech! I'm asking people that have done it and liked it!

Are you trying to boost your performance? Do you have a/c? If you do and don't care about the high idle feature then pull the vsv and vacuum lines. Do you have power steering? If you do and don't care about the high idle assist then pull the vsv and vacuum lines. Cruise control? If you do and don't care about cruising then pull the dashpot and vacuum lines too. Dont care about polluting your mountains, EGR? Put on block off plates and pull all those other vacuum lines too.

If you are trying to clean up the engine bay, that should do it I suppose. If it's a performance thing....? Then do a battery intake swap, big bore throttle body with a Supra AFM and a good quality 4 into 1 header with a 2.25" or 2.5" exhaust (minus a cat and muffler, you know, no emissions and all.....).

No a/c, power stearing was added after I got the truck and has never had the vacuum lines hooked up, no cruise control on the truck. It's as base as you can get it was when I bought it. I never once said I didn't care about emissions, I simply asked what is not needed. I'm getting some performance gain from the engine build. Not a lot but some. I'm building a beautiful mortor, all I'm trying to do is clean things up. If I don't need the vsv because I don't have air, then it can be removed, correct? Also, there was no dashpot on it when I got it either, no clue why but it seems to have done ok without one for the almost 400,000 miles I've put on it. I'm not even sure what that thing does, helps prevent backfire from throttle closing to fast?

If you disconnect the EGR, you'll probably need to run high octane gas, or retard the timing to prevent pinging, especially if the compression is bumped up. The EGR reduces NOx emissions AND pinging. Some get away without it, some don't and wonder why there's holes in the top of the pistons.

Sorry, yes there is a dashpot on the tb to help retard the closing of the butterfly. The cruise control dashpot is huge and sits on the back corner of the engine bay, drives side.
