reg. or syn. oil?
I have a 86 pickup 4x4 with 266,000 miles the original owner said the motor was rebuilt and has about 10,000 miles on it but im not sure, i want this truck to last for a while so should i switch to syn. or go with reg. oil any recomendations?

Yes, this has been beat to death on more than enough so hold on. If you go down about 24 or 30 post there is one on oil weights. My sugestion is in my signature. Synthetic is the way to go. If you decide on synthetics I can help you get it cheaper than retail. I also have a banner in the vendor section.

worse you could do is switch to synth oil and keep an eye on things. if you start to develop leaks, it's likely the front and/or rear oil seals weren't changed with the rebuild so switching back to dino oil or replacing the seals would then be the options.
but no leaks, and you're not burning excessive amounts of oil between changes, and you should be golden to go.
