Alright fellas, a while back my Toy was smoking reallllllllly bad, Burning a quart of oil a day, and then one day poof lots and lots of white smoke, i blew a head gasket. SO.....I rebuilt my 1987 Toyota pickup 4x4 22r 4cyl not to long ago...And when i say rebuilt, i could have bought a brand new motor for the money i put into this motor. (stupid i know).
But, when i got it running i noticed it was still smoking quite a bit, and i downsized from 34" super swampers to 30" all terrains trying to help the old truck out a little, So there isnt a whole lot of strain on the motor.
I checked it and sure enough im right back to burning a quart a day and it doesnt make sense to me. We didnt bend up the Head Gasket putting it in, we were very careful in EVERYTHING we did, and we did it all by the book and to the T...So i need suggestions...Someone told me i might not have torqued the head bolts tight enough, But i torqued them to the specs i had gotten with a very very expensive torque wrench that i borrowed from a mechanic buddie of mine...So someone help and lemme know whats going on please!

Its impossible for anyone to tell you over the net what you did wrong to your engine.

We can start with some obvious things. Define rebuilt? Did you change rings? Valve seals? Bearings? etc etc. If all you did was a head gasket, that is not a rebuild. If you didn't change the rings or valve seals, which were likely causing the smoking in the first place, you didn't fix the problem.

The head gasket went out, But i decided to go ahead and rebuild the whole motor. new rings, valves, valve seals, bearings, pistons, timing kit, oil pump, water pump, left the old cam it was still in good condition seeing as that it was replaced a while back, trued up the head of the motor, etc etc etc.
Like i said, i put a lot of money into this motor. But...I found traces of small amounts of oil in my radiator once again...Which tells me head gasket isnt sealing properly.

i had a 86 22r that would use a qt. of oil in 175 miles. i had good compression so i replaced the valve seals . it did help some ,it went to 300 mi before adding oil. i talked to a toyota tech who said it was probley bad valve guides. the oil oil in the radiator could be left over from before the rebuild. try flushing the radiator with white vinegar. i used it on a dozer radiator and it cleaned the oil out . just run clean water thru before adding antifreeze.

did you have the head machined or did you just put the new parts on the old head?

Is it possible the rings haven't yet seated? What kind of oil have you been running in it since the rebuild? This amount of consumption sounds like too much to be unseated rings, but I've heard of stranger things happening.
