are the diffs in a 3.0l toyota bigger than 22re ones and would a bed cap from a ext cab fit my reg cab bed

The v6 and the 4 cyl diff's will fit , but the v6 one have 4 spider gears and the 4 cyl one's have 2 spiders. If you change the 3rd member comp it will fit.

as for the bed cap the extra cab back sits at an angel and th reg cab is straight up so there would be a big gap at the bottom but it is possible with modifications

depending on whether or not the diff is a 4 cyl or v6, the parts are named in the boxes marked 4 pinion type and 2 pinion type.

i will be more thorough on my research and answers from now on.

Not to poke holes in a discussion but there is only one pinion gear per differential. The pinion drives the ring, the spider gears (however many there are) are housed within the differential which is in turn surrounded by the ring gear.

Well crap. After looking at your edited post and reading through the link I think we can all safely say that I have no idea what in the hell I'm talking about. I always called those little internal gears "spider gears", the one running the ring a "pinion gear" and thos little pins in there the "cross pins".

Yes. The rear v6 diff is stronger then the 4cyl. You probibly won't ever break a diff running a stock motor, but if you went to say a v8 you would want to stick with the v6 stuff.

Basically a 3.0 won't break a 4 cylinder diff easily. Toyota axles and diffs are pretty tough.

i was always under the impression the single and + bars were refered to as the pinions. i went back and took a look at the fsm, seems even toyota cant make up their mind on what to call them! no worries as we both got the information out there, in a round about way at that.

thanks im wondering this cause im buying a parts truck that has or doesnt have a 3.0 anymore and my rear axel is pretty beat and rusted bad so i wanted to put the 6cylinder one in and clean it up and paint it nice maybe get a locker too

It should all bolt in correctly. I have heard of some people saying you need to get a different flange so you can bolt it up to the driveshaft but Im not really sure about that.

oo yea well if it does need a diffrent flange w/e ill get one im no hurry to get this truck done i think i might swap all the drivetrain besides trans and tcase over to my truck R THE BEDS ON THE EXT CAB SHORTER OR LONGER THAN STD CAB?
