rear main seal installations

ok so my hanes manuall i have lost the page to show me how to install my seal so i need advice how for should that seal be drived in to the crankshaft end i was told about an 1/8 of an inch but need replys soon please i have a new clutch and flywheel and i just finished fixing my tranny so i would like to do this soon .

Just pound it in equally all around till its flush. I used a semi truck seal installer but its nothing more then a flat round piece of metal.

I use a large socket. Just make sure it goes in evenly and when it stops, you're done.

ok thanks guys cus ive seen where people have drove the seal in about a 1/4 inch and it just leaked around the outside edges of the seal

nah, just drive her in till she stops; there's a ridge on the plate that it fits into that stops it from going further than it's suppose to

ok so heres what mine looks like and i put everything backtogeather and i noticed oil on the flywheel cus we jerryriged somthin so i could turn my truck over to make sure so me and my uncle might have installed it wrong i sure hope not but i noticed oii too around the edges of the seal
