rear main seal

My marlin clutch is going to be getting installed next month so I thought I might as well do some more stuff while the tranny is dropped.

I already have a shifter seat and bushing, flywheel re-surfaced of course, and I want to do the rear-main seal. The guy who is going to be doing the work asked if its a one peice seal.. so thats what im asking, is the rear main on a 89-95 v6 pickup a one peice?

That seal on the 3VZ is one piece. Give us a call if you need more info.

Sounnds like he's used to working on Chevy V8s...

Its a once peice seal.

There are two ways to get it out
a) pry it out w/o scratching the crank
b) unbolt the holder - which adds another paper gasket to redo as well as the FIPG oil pan gasket...

Ive done it both ways and tend to do "b" becuase its actually FASTER and less finicky IMHO.
