Rear leaf spring ride height 2nd gen 4runner
I've read a ton of leaf spring conversion posts on the forum, but can't find the answer I'm looking for.
My truck suspension is stock, the rear has the legendary "saggy ass" and is totally unresponsive. I'm looking to switch to leaf springs to level out the rear, and get more flex. It would be nice to raise the whole truck an inch or two, but money is always the issue, and I wouldn't be able to afford the front right now. If I got leaf springs in the rear to level out the truck, could I go back in later with a longer shackle to change the ride height, or is that a hack job?

you will not level out the back with leaf springs, unless you add about 3 or 4, or change out the whole packs. I added one leaf, then added 12 inch 2.5 diameter springs to the back, that leveled it all out nicely.

Ranger: 2nd gen 4runners some stock with 4link, not leafs. hes talking about swapping leafs in, not adding a leaf.
forth, yes you can go back and change the shackle. Its a common way to modify the suspension to get the rideheight you want. What are you planning on using for leafs?

yep, added 1 leaf on both sides, then the springs. they are rated at 150 lbs; woulda prefered 100lbs, or even 125's. 150's give a stiff ride, but you know I will never bottom out again...
check ebay, there is a dude there, from the middle of the country somewhere's, that sells AFCO springs- he's got a ton of them, in a wide variety of heights, diameters and poundages.

If your vehicle is "sagging" on a certain side or wheel then the spring is week and or bad and needs replacement and will be back to its "stock" ride height. If you cut all the bar links and everything out and try to go leaf springs you prob won't ever get it "just right lvl" again. You will just have to guesstamate and personally i think it will look crappy... thats just me.
