So a couple weeks ago I started to feel this thump on take off, I finally decided to check it out . I checked my transfer case rear output and all was fine , so i just chaged the seal. I went to grab the rear pinion and whoa , it has a lot of play in it or something.
I installed a lockright in this thing a few months ago and it was all fine for a while .

I havent removed it yet , but should I just tighten the adjusting wheels or what ?

I emailed Zuk to see what his prices were but he hasnt replied to me yet . I would much rather have some one like him fix it but well see i guess.

Pretty common for lunchbox lockers to show that much backlash.

If you try to wiggle the pinion, does it move at all up/down or side/side?

thanks TC , No it doesnt move up down side to side .

But it wasnt this loose at first, at least i dont think so.

I don't know if I got to your email or not...but I agree with tc that what you have there for 'slop' is normal with an auto locker.

My freshly rebuilt 4.88 third with a lock right had the same amount, still does 2 years later.

man , i swear mine wasnt that bad .. but i guess it should be alright for a while .. Honestly i dont really like that , i may have to look into getting and electric or arb.
