can I use a bigger radiator, like a 3 row from a 6 cylinder 4 runner on my 1988 22re? if so what model do I get? I currently have a 2 row that needs to have the tanks taken off and the core rodded out. new just sounds like a better deal to me

If and when I upgrade my radiator on my '90 22RE, I will upgrade to a 3 core off of a 22RTE Turbo.

I'm running a radiator from a 3.0 that I got at the local parts store. Fits just fine and works well.

Maybe it's different with the slight extra weight of the 4R, but my 22RE runs normal temp without running hot under hot ambient air(100degrees, etc) conditions with the 2-row rad, but it ran hot with the [new]3-row rad.

I just had an OE 22RE rad refurbished for $50. Sure beats buying a new one IMO and no need for more cores or electric fans on a stock daily driver. Trail rig is a different story where cooling is at low speeds, but never had a problem with just the OEM radiator.
