Quiet 3vz 4R - can it be done?

That noisy mill up front is really dragging me down. It runs just fine, but its noisy inside and I'm looking to quiet things up a bit.

Anyone have any luck with dynamat and other foam/foil sound-deadening materials? I have some big pieces of closed-cell rubber foam with a foil backing and am thinking of pulling up the carpets in front and putting that under there.

Will that help or is the engine noise just coming straight back through the firewall? There are so many freaking holes in it that it seems almost pointless to try and do anything with that.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I feel like the noisiest part of my truck is the brick like shape being forced through the wind!

Sorry i dont have much of a suggestion for you, to me the wind noise overtakes my 3.0 past 40. I would be curious how any matting worked tho for you

there pretty quiet engines, not like the noisy 22re lol. what noises is it making? ticking? i would say putting in any sound proofing would probably help a bit since thats what its for but if your masking up bad maintenance then that would be bad lol. that engine should purr like i wee little kitty cat
