Ive gotten a couple PMs asking me how I did this so I figured Id just make a thread about it.

The short of it is that I cut the door hinges, tapped the pin out with a punch and put some 7/16th pins in place. I dont have electronics in the doos, which makes it a little easier. Ive heard of people using 4 pin trailer connectors for quick disconnect of the electronics.

On with the pics.



I pulled a hunge off my parts truck so I could test it before cutting the hinges on the truck.

Got my hinges finished up.

I remembered to charge my camera and bring it, however, I forgot my memory card in my laptop. F. So cell phone pics will have to do.



Had to grind a chunk out of the head of the pin to get it to clear the hinge bolt. Close up of the pin ground down clearing the bolt.

So now when I make some half doors, I can switch them easily.

How bout that brass bushing. Is there a replacement for that or alternative? I built half doors and want this for them, but when i built my set of hinges, i was unhappy with the play they had. I think it had to do with the bushing. It was like a brass wire mesh coated in rubber. Real flimsy. Would like a solid bearing/ bushing. But i havnt been able to find some with the right inside/ outside diameter combination.

I use these weatherpack connectors from PCS for my wires running through my doors. Great quality.



Check with ace hardware.
There's actually a thread on here somewhere with that information.
You'll have to search for it though.

What about the thingies that hold the door open on an incline? Do those just have to be disabled?

All it takes to get off is a phillips screw driver. Takes 2 seconds.

Good point on those. Both of mine fell into the door, so watch out not to loose them.

Where did you find the pins? Have not been able to find and at hardware stores but then again I may not of been looking hard enough.

Got them at ACE Hardware. Cost me $7 for all 4.

Tractor Supply company should have them as well. If those are the trailer safety pins that I think they are. I got one of those holding my hi-lift jack handle in place.

Nice work by the way. Gonna have to do this to mine when I find a place to get those bushings. Mine are shot.
