I searched and couldn't find my answer. I've never geared a truck before seeing as how this is my first toyota. Do you usually gear front and rear or can you just gear the rear? I'm planning on going with some bigger tires (found a link on here with a list of all the gears for different tire sizes wich was very helpful) and i'm just wondering if i can get a way with gearing just the rear. Thanks and much appreciated.

but then the rear tires would spin faster than your front, and binding/breaking/stripping can occur...assuming its 4wd...so simple answer: NO! GEAR BOTH!

if you never use 4wd then technically yes you could. But you shouldnt Its a bad idea

You can just do the rear if u never use 4wd. If you put it in 4wd with different gears in front and rear something WILL break! But assuming u want to use 4wd since you are getting bigger tires You do have to gear both front and rear the same so that all tires spin the same speed.

Alrighty thank you all, i appreciate it and that's what i figured. i'm still learnin haha. now where can i get a good matchin set of 4.88's?

Or if you really lucky, any 90-95 3.0 V6 and an auto tranny with a factory 31" tire package will have em...good luck!

Correction, any '92-'95 3.0 V6 auto will have 4.88s. My '91 came with 4.56's.
