Questions on front diff spinning correctly?
Getting the new carrier ready for install today and noticed that everything spins fine and free when I turn the driveline flange in either direction. However, when I try to turn one of the axle flanges it wont turn at all by hand.
It has a Lockright in it. I know not the best but it was in there when I bought it so what the hell. Also installing manual hubs too.
Is this normal/OK? If so, anyone want to take the time to explain why in simple/stupid language I can understand? If this is not fine, what kind of problems should I be looking for before I install it? Front cover is off and everything looks ok to the stupid eye.

With the locker in there, you're going to need a lot more force than you can generate with your hands on the output flanges to unlock it. Usually, you test the locker with the tires on. Put the tranny in neutral, tires off the ground turn the tires by hand then jerk the tire the other way and it should unlock.

Just fine, perfectly normal. You didn't say where you were located. If you have snow would you test the locker out in the front in snow and tell us how it is, the more opinions the better.

Well Matt...the plan was to install it today and head to the snow tomorrow. But the plan was to install it last weekend and head to the snow today too though.
Hopefully we install tomorrow and head to snow next weekend. If not, we'll install sometimes and hopefully head to snow before NEXT winter!!
Regardless, I'll post back my impressions. I don't have a ton of experience but my buddies have been wheeling since they were sperm and will review it with me.
Anything in particular that you, or someone else, would be looking for? Something to try/test?

it should still be possible to turn one flange but it will require a lot of extra force to do so since it's not just the spider turning, but the other flange and the rest of differential and driveline.

nit more mussel? dag nabbit them nits and those mussells.
yeah, with a locker or LSD, trying to turn one wheel by hand is about the same as turning both wheels and the rest of the stuff in the differential too with one hand.
