Problematic rear window thread? What's That?
1988 4runner.
Ok... I've read several threads on the topic, but it seems everyone has different rear window problems.
My rear window used to go up and down just fine with both key and inside switch. Just recently the key stopped rolling the window up. Down works fine with the key, the switch inside still works perfectly.
I've tested another tailgate key-switch from a scrapped 4runner, same problem still, the up on the key wont work, everything else is fine.
Tested a second relay out of another scrapped 4runner, same problem still, everything works except the up on the key.
The chances of the same symptom on two different parts if moderately unlikely. So... what else could cause only the one function to not work. Motor sounds great, moves fast for all the other functions. I havent spent the time to focus on when and where I hear clicks with each function yet... that might be tomorrow's job. I'm not a crazy electrician, so the whole soldering relays and circuit stuff kinda freaks me out. Just looking for ideas on what could cause this just to give me a direction to take my investigation.
Thanks.

Here are some of threads I used to fix mine. Not sure about the key as my keys are so worn out I never looked into it.

Running a ground wire from this wire on the plug, the blue wire to the place on the pic below elminates a lot of problems.
Ground to center consloe mounting tab.
The ground wire bypasses the following safety switches. Cover Top and Door Lock Detections switch. Your window will roll up with top off. This is on Page 12-23 of the Haynes Manual where the key is to the botom of the page.
Haynes "L" for Blue, "R" for Red. Key is pointing to wire.
