Prob with '91 4x4
Hi all, quick- Hello, im new here
I have a 1991 toyota surf (or 4runner) im in Australia.
Problem is, I press the 4wd button on my 4x4 selecter stick and the green light comes on the dash. I feel that the fron hubs are engaged and its in 4x4.
However it will not disengage when i depress the button. It used to work fine.. but all of a sudden it will not go back to 2wd.
Ive searched and read many diffrent tricks or solutions..
and now im confused as ever.
If i disconnect a sensor on the transfer case (t-case) The light will go out, and i hear the fron diff click (disengage)-- the little ballbearing (2pin)switch. This works fine as i unscrewed it, and used my finger to switch to-from 4wd and it worked.
Help ? -- im thinking its the 4wd acuator assembly thing that is mounted on the t-case that has the problem.
Is there a do it yaself repair to these or better yet, a way to test it .
Thanks.. need 4wd back up and running ASAP , booked to go away
