The Pre TB Ribbed Rubber Elbow Air Tube
Well, was removing that doggone elbow the other day, and RIP. Tore off about half the sleeve that fits over the throttle body that you put the clamp on.
Tried to just squeeze it on there more, but it kept on slipping off while driving (REALLY fun in 5 o'clock traffic on the highway, let me tell you...)
Anyhoo, I just gorrilla taped around it and the throttle body tube, and put the clamp back on. Fixed it enough to make it wheelable, but now I backfire shifting out of first, and buck when hitting the mid-upper rpm range in any gear, so I think my little "fix" is letting too much air in or something. Anyhoo, the good ol' idiots at Autozone had no idea where to find that, and Home Depot only had 2" and 3" elbows, so I'm in a little bit of a rut... Any ideas on where I can get that doggone elbow (w/o having to cut off an arm at the stealership), or something? Thought I heard of bypassing the AFM once... Good idea to try? Open to all suggestions

what he is talking about is the rubber intake piping that comes directly off the throttle body, it then leads to small(in my opinion expansion chamber) then to the another rubber pipe, then to the MAF unit, the the air filter box
i figured i would have the same thing happen to me when i was installing my FIPK, i had no issues, i wrapped the whole upper part that attatches to the TB with electrical tape to make sure it doesnt tear, but it seems your dry rotted so bad that it just basically fell apart.
i would check a junker, thats where im gonna look, basically anything that is close to a fit will work for me, so im gonna take a look after the winter is over. if not, im gonna man up and talk to the toyo mech that lives down the street and see if he can get me a deal on it.

Hmm... Phone keeps on eatin the pictures :-/ Uhh, it's the elbow that connects the ribbed air tube to the throttle body. Imagine that elbow connected with black gorilla tape with a clamp over it. Lmao EVERYTHING is jerry rigged. You'll probably laugh your ass off once I get those pictures taken. You'll get to see my megaphone for my CB/PA thats bigger than the battery.

Hmm good idea, far as usin that 2.75" id elbow, but the problem is findin that. Home Depot and Lowes both didn't have em :-/ Plus I'd really rather not relocate the battery and my megaphone for that snorkel... Maybe another rainy day.

That is 2" PVC pipe, the fittings are ~2.75" diameter. And no need to do the relocation or snorkle part. The throttle body to air box should be similar. Or try your local auto parts stores, especially ones that carry goddies for the ricer crowd. Lots of silicone hose and fittings available, might be able to find something that fits.

autozone tends to carry alot of ricer style universal felxi intake tube and whatnot, id try there.. I wish i knew they had that stuff before i tore the intake boot in the same place on my 3vze, their like 90 bucks at the stealership

I know the feeling! I just replaced the TC and stuff only to find out my truck wouldn't run because of this. I was desperate and just happened to come across this in NAPA. It has worked great for a couple years now and saved $100 bucks as well!

Yeah, still haven't had a chance to come into town to go by napa, but hoping to be able to do that by this weekend.
But ya know, I know at lease the bucking is probably caused by my quick fix and the throttle body getting too much air in (at lease I hope thats whats causing it), but what about the backfiring? What usually causes backfires? Truck still runs decent, but it's gettin to where I'll just getter rollin in 1st before I throw it in 2nd cause it'll start fartin round what I'm guess is 2k (no tach... haven't installed my purddy new sr5 instrument panel).
Both the buckin and backfirein started not too long after I jerry-rigged the tube, so thats why I'm supposing that it's gettin too much air which is causin both those problems. Just wonderin what yall think bout the issue.
Sorry if I aint makin much sense, pretty tuckered out lol...

And I suppose the "buckin" probably it backfiring that I just cant hear while drivin down the highway? My tires are ridiculously loud, and my exhast train doesn't really help hearing conditions anyways lol...
