popup sunroof cover
I have been looking for a popup sunroof cover for about a year with no luck. The dealer wants $675.00 for one. So I decided to make one myself. It cost me about $40.00 and a couple of weekends to make. Its not perfect, but I'm really happy of how it came out. Here are some pic's. Used my cell phone camera so I hope you can see them. I took some other pic's while fabricating if anyone is interested in seeing them. I just need to put them in order.
Thanks for looking.

Do you have a factory popup sunroof ?. I layed a piece of flat steel from end to end to to re-enforce it. I did not take a pic after laying out the steel brace but you can get the idea from this.

So in this pic is:
===== sunroof = glass =====
------windshield screen------ (shinny side up)
------ sheet --- metal ------ (with flat steel backing)
Did you color the sheet metal to match the headliner or wrap it with vinyl? And how is it attached on the hinge side?
Thanks, I appreciate all the info and yes I have that exact sunroof (well I'll be buying one soon)

[/IMG]Thanks Outsane
And yes, I covered the bottom or interior side. I got some material form an upholstery shop next door to my shop. Pretty close to match my interior.
Here it is finished. Used a flexible self adhering door molding for trim.

Ok, but mine is a factory pop-up sunroof. If your going to buy one soon you will probably have to get an aftermarket. As for material I used a windshield sun screen and cut it to fit for the outer side. I use gray material for the inside section. No vinyl, no sheet metal, no paint. Finished it with a flexable door molding (black).
Thanks for the write up, built not bought!

Looking great! I hadn't even thought about doing an interior cover for the sunroof... I'm still on what to do to the floor...
and the very first step is to get the transmission in.
Cuz it don't matter much how hot the interior is when it's parked in the driveway!

Thanks much guy's, Its was a fun and not so hard to do. The creative part came when i had to make tabs for the cover.
Found this old broken radio and removed cover to make tabs.
The metal was just the right thickness so it slides right in the tab holders on the sunroof.
