Well I would look into the EGR valve. Make sure its working correctly, it shouldnt throw a code. Clear the codes (pull the EFI fuse for 15 seconds) and see if it returns.

What tire size are you running? What is the diff gear ratio?? These trucks really suffer power loss from big tires. Gears are one of the best mods you could ever do.

A step up in gears will make your truck run like a whole new animal

Hey Thanks for the replie I already reset the codes and once again its running just fine no codes. Im running 34in mud terrains and gear ratio I have no idea im starting to wonder if the previous owner may have a different ratio like something really stickin low? idk iv only owned the truck for like 4 months? The new engine has only 400 miles on it and no joke its a tottally brand new block, rods, heads, and crank I had a friend at a performace motor shop who owed me a huge favor lol

Awsume, then you have a nice clean slate.

Check the diff gear ratio. Just jack up one rear tire, spin it 20 times, and count the number of rotations the driveshaft make. Take that number and divide it by 10.

With 34" tires you could get away with 4.88's. IT would be a TAD undergeared but hardly noticable. You can get used 4.88 diffs from 92-95 4runners or pickups with the 3vze, automatic and 31" tires from the factory (look at the door sticker to conferm).

They can be had for under $400 most times, and they will bolt right in!!! And the best part, is you can stuff a locker into the rear diff and swap everything into your truck in one day. Talk about no downtime. And then you can sell your old diffs for some cash, or keep em for spares.

If you got some money, I would buy 5.29's These would require you buying kits and getting them installed into diffs. You could still buy some cheap used diffs and do the same thing as with the 4.88's, but it won't be nearly as cheap.

No problem. Prepare to have an empty wallet soon. Toyotas seem to do that to their owners, something about the constant need to modify it and make it better

Ok so heres what I found out this morning I Placed painters tabe (blue) on the tire and on the drive shaft to count the rotations. I spun the tire 20 times and while doing so i found that each time it made a full rotaion the markings on the drive shaft and the tire would not line up in fact by the time I had made it to 20 the drive shaft had become a full rotaion ahead of the tire i guess you could say it had lapped the tire but on the 20 rotaion they became back in sync. Is this normal from just the play in the gears or do I have a problem? also I did end up 41 driveshaft rotaions so I devided and it was 4.1 so I assume that it means I have the stock 4:10 gear ratio?

Well I will say if you have stock 4:10's and you have 34's you will not have power for highways. I have 31's and on the pickup 22re and she does ok. the 4Runner with 33's and 3.0 auto I have more to be desired from her. No getup in the go. I know the trans needs work as well as the engine but big tires on stock gears=slow...

when you did your engine i'm assuming you change your air filter, but just in case, when i first bought mine there was a rag that had got sucked into the air box and it eventually blocked the air filter enough restricting the flow of air and it felt like i lost all my torque(well i guess i did lol). i couldn't use fifth at all i had horible exeleration and i had to use lower gears then normal reving it higher. going up the hills back to my place was a bitch lol

4.10's were designed to be used with 28" tires So yeah, your truck is very undergeared!!!

Throw some 4.88's in there, i'tl be great!

They'd be a lot better than what you got now. If in fact they are 4:10's

They would be better, but I would go with 4.88's 4.56's are good for 31" tires or so..

I would only wanna do it once anyways, I vote 4.88's or nothing

The underpowered problem?

Yes. These trucks hate being undergeared. All of 150hp from the crank to push well over 4.000lbs of truck around. She likes her gears!!!!

I talked to a few guys who have overgeared their trucks (5.29's and 33's) and they say its amazing! POwer in everygear

Can't say defiantly but it's not helping at all.
Like I said my 33's with 3.0 auto she runs but slow. I can run 65 but usually do not, I don' have a front sway bar and I need the front end lined up. I'm not sure of my gears on this one I may have the 4.56's it had the stock 31's so I'm assuming that I already have 4.56's.
