pitman arm / idler arm thank god

i'm glad for looking into this. i cant belive the shape they where in with about 140,000miles on them. i mean dear god... i should have checked this along time ago but i honestly thought all the play in the steering wheel was from the gear box..

i was wrong, but someone ran me off the road cause their stupid a$$ was talking on the phone or wtf ever. ok.. check things and find the idler arm has some play, do a search.. bushings!! awesome. after i already ordered the bushings and crap from toyota i then find out the idler arm is bent and then just get a new replacement.

no fix, a little better but still about 7in or so of play in the wheel. ask a friend to move the wheel so i check under the truck.. holy heeping hell batman.. the damn ball join is coming undone from the steering link!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i promptly get a new replacement with along with renting the pitman arm remover tool.

very easy.... attach remover tool tq that baby down smack the arm with a hammer.... remove old arm. new arm line up the marks tq to 137foot lbs max and button it up!!! wow good golly.. no more play batman!!!! the steering wheel was out of whack.. took that heep off with wheels streight and replace steering wheel streight. awesome. truck has less then 2 in of play at the steering wheel. tracks streight, i feel safe.

thank you god!!

Isnt it nice when you replace parts and the truck drives like it was brand new? haha. Its good you didnt get hurt or your truck didnt.

When i got my runner the wheel would have to be at the 11 or 10 oclock position for the truck to drive straight, replaced idler and lower ball joints and wow.

Just had my two lower ball joints done last week along with an axle followed by an alignment. My front left idler arm has a small amount of play but hasn't affected things... yet. Great post though i'm not going to let my little issue go until it get's out of hand.
