Peeling off stock 4Runner pinstripe

Gonna peel off the stupid looking stock pistripe off my 2nd Gen 4Runner, any advise? Should I heat it with a hair dryer or use some kind of solvent or just go ahead and peel it off?

Thanks.

just use a heat gun and something to scrape it off, but your going to have to paint it after your done, because the paint will be a little different under the stripe because of sun and whatnot

Heat gun is how I pulled the stripe off of my truck, just take cape not to over heat the paint or it might blister and peel.

I used this DIY for my 4runner:

Much easier/cleaner than using a heat gun IMO.
What color is your truck? Mine is a black 94' and I didn't have any problems with fading paint.
Let me know if you want any pictures.

I used a heat gun to remove the factory stripes, it did go to the metal and primer in a few spots but i was getting ready to paint the whole truck anyway.

The 3M Rubber Eraser wheel does a great job if the striping isn't dried out and cracking. Super easy and with my Black 4Runner, there was very little paint fade.

The passenger side of my 4Runner looks great w/ no striping... The driver's side however...

What do you recommend for something that is dry? I pulled off chrome paneling and it left double side foam tape. It is all dried and caked on.

What method should I use?

Yeah figured I would use a hair dryer as not to over heat the paint. I am gonna compund the whole truck because I figured the paint underneath the stripe is gonna look different so will try compounding to blend it in.

lovetharunner.....I have a black '91, so I was expecting some fading, but it doesn't look too bad compared to the door jams. Some pics would be great. That 3M Eraser looks sick, I think I may go to Napa and grab one of those, looks easy, and I don't want to deal with any paint blistering or removal at all.

Thanks for that.

I used nail polish remover on mine... came out a LOT better than I had expected. But if you care about the paint underneath... I wouldnt recommend it. I am eventually getting a paint job any way.

I used a 3M eraser that hooked up to my drill! It worked very good on my black 4Runner.

Here are pictures as requested:

Once again: I used the 3M Pinstripe Removal Wheel. It was clean, quick, and did not hurt the paint AT ALL. My 4Runner is a 94' and I did not see any paint fade. The only difference was that the paint under my old stripe did not have any scatches
