Part number location on manual 1986 tranny...
Found a manual tranny in a parts yard but it's really dirty. Where are the part numbers located on them? It's a 1986 manual 4runner tranny.
Thanks

is it still in the truck? It will tell you on the door jam plate what it is. But wont say if it's forward or top shift. I think all the 1st gen 4runners got a top shift.
G52, G54 I believe were only put into trucks with the 22r and not 22re, and I don't believe any of the 22R trucks were 4runners as they all got 22re's? but I could be wrong.
If it's a turbo 4runner then it's a R151F Top Shift (w/ Bucket Seats) Forward Shift (w/ Bench Seats). But again it's a 4runner so no bench seats making it a Top Shift.
This might help to identify it too and is what I used for the above info:

Ug, this is confusing. I just need to know what friggin manual trannies will work on a 4runner automatic we are swapping out. And then what transfer case do I need as well.
