I recently installed a set of OME900 coils and N72F shocks on my 93 4Runner. I was told by a representative at TRDparts4u that running this setup would not require a Panhard drop bracket.

However, from the ground to center of the bracket bolts are...

Left side: 15 3/4 inches
Right side: 20 3/4 inches

So basically a 5 inch offset. I had to stand on the right side of my bumper to lower the truck enough to connect the Panhard bar. I've also been getting a little shaking when I take off in 1st gear that was definitely not happening before I installed the OME setup. Unfortunately I didn't take any measurements before I started.

So should I just order the 4 inch drop from 4Crawler, or do OME's settle over time. I can't imagine that they will settle anywhere close to 5 inches. Anybody else out there running 900's or 901's with a drop bracket? If so what was your offset and how much did you bracket drop it?

EDIT: Yes, I did search. Most of the threads say no drop bracket is needed. However, 5 inches of offset seems like a whole lot... What is stock?

I did the same lift "OME 900's'' I added a crossmember and used 14 inch bilstiens. my mesurements were 15 1/2 and 20 1/2 -------- my passanger side tire sitcks out 2 inches more than the driver side

I too would like to know what works best? I can't wheel with my drive line hiting my fuel tank

I just realized my passenger side tire is sticking out around 1 1/2 inches further than the drivers side, thank you Joshua.

I'm starting to think that a panhard drop bracket is definitely necessary. The question is - how much of a drop is needed for roughly 5 inch offset?

not to be a smartass to you guys but common sense says that if the panhard is as close to horizontal as possible you will have less side shifting during susp flex. i would recommend the bracket to keep the geometry correct, and it will even out your axle centering. also go to any parking lot and peek under a stock runner to see where the panhard lays. hope this helps.

I'm not about to go lay under somebodies 4Runner and measure the offset. Maybe somebody with a stock Runner can help us out.

no dont do that. sorry, i meant to just take a glance at it for reference. mine has 1 1/4 spacers and the panhard mounting point difference is also about 1 1/4 if that helps.

Hahah, just giving you a hard time Eroc. Even so, measuring a stock 4runner might not give the best results depending on how sagged the coils are.

Anybody running 900's or 901's with a panhard bar drop? If the point is to get it as close to horizontal as possible, I guess the 4 inch drop is sufficient. Anything will be better than how it is now.

I have 900's and a ProComp panhard drop and now i'm as close to even as I care to get. Driver sits at 16" and passenger sits at 17" w/ 1/2" more wheel exposed. Still have stock shocks because I haven't decided on comfort over travel.

Thanks for the picture! That must be around a 4 inch drop bracket, since you went down to about an inch of offset.

I went ahead and ordered the 4Crawler 4" drop bar, which will leave me with around an inch of offset, pretty much the same as you have. By the way, the OME N72F shocks are awesome paired with the 900's. They are on the spendy side, but worth it.

I'll post the results when it comes in.

how many inches is your drop3-4 inches ? also try these shocks, they are smooth on and off road. . . i love em

also remember to losen all of the factory 4 link bolts so the axle can be moved with out binding

My panhard drop measures 4" bolt to bolt. I like those shocks Joshua, are those Bilstein 5125's ?

yeah they are 14 inch travel Bilstein 5125's they are required a little bit of work, I put in new crossmember and cut out the stock shock bracket. I plan on doing my own build thread to show you can get way better than stock shocks in a second gen runner. I got a good deal from www.datinfab.com these shocks feel so good i can run it on the highway with out the sway bar but I keep it on for my 10 mo old baby girl

I just made a drop bracket if you have a welder it is not a problem . I made mine 4 in even though the difference was 5 1/2 inches I figure when there is some weight in the back ect it will sit right .The brake bracket I made has holes at 4 in and 5 in have it at 5 now and will see how it goes

I was talking about the stock 4 link bars both of the upper short links and the lower links that conect the axle to the frame. don't remove them just losen both ends of the links and then install the drop bracket and when the axle is centered under the truck siting at ride height tighten everything back up.the stock links will bind up aginst themselfs, unlike johny joints.also i called summit today and orderd the pro comp panhard drop bracketthe new part number for it is EXP-91-1268 and they had it in stock. 47 bucks shiped

I installed my 4" Panhard drop today from 4Crawler. Easy install. To anyone considering OME 900's or 901's, the drop bracket is a must. The offset of nearly 5 inches with the stock setup really pulls the axle too far to the passenger side, putting your drive line close to the fuel tank and slightly setting everything off kilter. I was told it was not needed by a few people but it's really necessary.

I was also getting a little shudder taking off in 1st which I believed was a result of the offset and the axle being pulled - and I was right. On install of the drop bracket the shudder stopped. This probably had something to do with the rear axle not sitting perfectly straight.

My offset went from 5" to slightly over 1", putting the Panhard bar nearly horizontal.

Hope this helps anyone searching for an answer.

Conrad I notice you did not extend the brake bracket on the rear . there was a big difference in braking when I added that.
