Pair reed valve fail..

As some of you might know I just recently received 94 4runner back from the shop. I recently had all 24 valve shims changed, and a collapsed lifter.

So today after the issue was fixed I noticed now my Pair valve is acting up. I just made a video and it appears stuck open and making noise right after start up. How hard is it/how much is the unit cost to change? I am noticing surging with RPM's on idle intermittently. I took my fingers in the video and pressed it against the valve, and I feel some vibrations for sure.

Next question how do I pull this thing out?

Why doesn't anyone ever answer any Reed Valve questions lol? I think I'm having some issues with mine. Hearing a lot of hissing. Is that motorboat sound coming from the valve? Check and make sure your vac lines are hooked up correctly?

The reed valve has 4 5mm screws holding the two halves together. When they loosen up, you get a hellavu racket.

First, are all four screws still there? You can feel them with your fingers, but since you don't really know what you're feeling for you might need to use a mirror. If they haven't fallen out but are loose, a VERY short #2 phillips can tighten them in-situ. If one or more are gone, I recommend replacing them with Allen bolts; much easier to tighten them, and the additional cost for 4 is less then $.50.

If you need to remove it, you'll probably have to remove the intake plenum (upper intake manifold) to get to it. But then you've got that big (about 20mm) hose to disconnect. I recommend using a heat gun (or a hair dryer) to warm any recalcitrant rubber hose. Makes them much more flexible and more likely to disconnect. If you use a heat gun, remember that they can get hot enough to melt, well, almost anything. So put your hand on the hose; if it's too hot for your hand, move the heat gun farther back.
