Painting Advice

Hey guys I've been looking for a cap so I can haul my 2 labs around in and I finally found one a beat up nasty white aluminum one. it fits real nice its just a little beat up and needs some TLC my question is this I'm going to paint it black I have already took the wire wheel to it thoroughly and I believe I am ready to wipe it down and paint, however my question is do I need to do anything special or is it just the normal primer then paint? I painted my chrome bumper black and got real good adhesion after roughing the crap out of it and using self etching primer. Should I use the self etching again or is normal auto primer ok?? I never tried painting aluminum so I'm just trying to see if I need to take a special approach

Thanks Guys

You can use some applaince epoxy paint. Most places have it in spray can. It comes in black and sticks really good. I think the black is kind of glossy though which you may not want.
