I had a thread on here before about overheating but I am not sure what happened to it so ill make another.
So I have an 88 pickup 22re. It gets up to operating temp just fine, but then shortly after it gets there the temp gauge skyrockets up. I check the overflow and it is almost at the top. I just recently replaced both the waterpump and thermostat. Maybe one of them is not working properly? Also sometimes upon startup the engine makes like this whining sound, could be the waterpump? Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Blown head gasket, cracked head. is there antifreeze in your oil or oil inthe antifreeze?

Negative. About 2700 on the rebuild.

Any guesses? also has a new Radiator and rad cap aswell.

is the water boiling over into the overflow?

Too much antifreeze? Not enough water in the mix? Straight antifreeze doesn't exchange heat well.

How would I know if its boiling over compared to just overflowing over? Sometimes the radiator makes a boiling sound. But not recently that I have noticed.

But could too much coolant be why it flows into the overflow so quickly? The mixture is some where in the area of 60-80% coolant to 20-40% distilled water.

It doesn't take long to fry a head gasket. Sound alot like what I went through. I wasn't ready for the rebuilt (read - LAZY) so I used this stuff instead http://www.rxauto.com/ Hell, I even have enough left for another application.

Did you burp the system?

It does sound like there is still air in the system but I have tried to burp it plenty of times to no avail.
