Opinion needed 4Runner related:)
Alright,
I'm active duty military right now and I'm getting out due to wanting to be closer to my kids, they are 9 hours away, but I got this freaking insane job offer in Iraq for a year so deliberating on taking it and setting them up for life over the course of one year.
Now, I have two vehicles right now, my 92 4Runner which i have big plans for and my 02 Saleen Vert that I've did everything too, about 40'gs worth to it actually. I'm keeping my car and trying to decide on the $unner.
It's paid for, so I can't see why not, and I have big plans, thinking a Vortech 350, body lift for clearance, SAS, for starters....
I'll have a huge budget when i get back but I'll be gone for 13 months, not asking for ya'lls opinion on the job, nor the getting out of the military, but if ya'll were me, would you keep the Runner and dump some cash in it on return, or sell it and get one already built or a newer ride when you got back?
I like my runner because I take it anywhere, and I don't worry about scratches etc... I just hate the 3.slow so it's gone soon, and I'll need to put a good 5g's in this thing to get it where I want, so what would ya'll do?

I prefer to build cause I like building. More expensive and you know what you got in the end.
That being said with the investment you could find a well built truck cheaper than building one right now and probably later too.

Thanks guys, I must say I built everythign on my car, and I can't sell it, I'm thinking if I sell the runner and buy an already built one I won't hold onto it as long, not to mention my son wants this runner and he's 11, so in 5 years it would be his....
But we'll see I guess, I'm leaning towards keeping it right now, Love this thing, and I'm addicted to Yota's

Storage for a year, or letting my nephew drive it, storage would cost, and well my nephew is just getting his license, SOOOO, even if I decided to keep it, might not have it when i get back, he lives in a populated part of Virginia.
I'm actually leaning towards keeping it if I take the job now:-) Need to do the balljoints, and new shocks before then though as I would have to drive it up to Virginia and I've got an upper balljoint that's bad right now.

FYI, I didn't take the job, i've lost some good buddies over there, and being away from my kids for another year just wasn't worth it, I got ouf on the 17th of Oct and now I'm getting activated as a Reservist over here at Patrick AFB on the 12th, so I got out to go back in, good thing is I'm picking up the next rank when I do it so I'm getting a payraise. Kept teh runner and bought some BJ spacers, shocks, and some otehr goodies for it in the process, going to pick her back up this upcoming weekend as I left her behind for the first part of my move, can't wait to get back in her, and get some new shoes on her in the near future
