Oil Pressure Reading SR5 Cluster
I have a '93 w/22RE/5 speed and put an SR5 cluster in it and I was wondering if the reading for the oil pressure in the picture is good or not. When it is cold the oil pressure is all the way to the 3rd block to the right and slowly moves to the left and stays between the 1st and second blocks while underway. At idle, it is all the way to the left as if it is not reading at all. Is that normal? Also, if I left off the gas to slow down, the pressure gauge shows an increase in pressure for a moment then if I get back on the gas it stays between the 1st and 2nd block or if I stop it slowly drops all the way left. Sorry it is such a long post, but just curious if this is all normal. Thanks.

The SR5 oil pressure gauge is absolutely worthless as far as accuracy. The sending unit gets plugged over time, and the readings vary a lot from truck to truck. Unfortunately the sending unit costs about 50 bucks. If you buy one, make sure not to get the oil pressure sensor that just turns on the idiot light on the non-SR5 models - you need to get the sending unit. Changing it is very easy, it's right next to the oil filter on the 22RE. A lot of people just opt for an aftermarket gauge instead.
This is what I get on my 22RE when warm:
10-15 PSI idle
60-70 PSI at 3k
Oil weight does change the pressure somewhat, as does running old oil for a long time. Good luck!

So what you guys are saying is I need to get a oil pressure tester to see exactly what pressure I'm running? By looking at the picture, does it look about normal for the RPM's I am running?

You need to get a basic oil pressure tester to get an accurate reading. It's easy to do and you can pick up a basic test kit for as cheap as $20.
There is no 'normal' for the SR5 oil pressure gauge on the dash. Your 22RE might read 1/4 at 2500rpm, and another may read 3/4 at 2500rpm, while in reality they are both producing 50psi. See what I mean? There is a lot of variance depending on how clogged the sending unit is, what oil weight is used, climate etc.
In the end I really wouldent be concerned about it - I'm sure it's fine. Low oil pressure isnt a typical problem with 22RE's. but if you want peace of mind just test it.
