I have a 89 pickup with a 22re it leaks a little oil till it gets warm about the first 5 mins then stops I cleaned the front of the engine it looks like the oil pan gasket is squished out and I think that is where it's coming from but it stopping when it gets warm has me a little baffled I'm new to the toyotas if anyone knows anything else it could be any info greatly appreciated I read a few post about oil leaks but no one has the same symptoms as me it stops when it's warm thanks in advance

I think I had the same problem. My truck leaked oil, but not very much. When I say not very much... I went a year without changing the oil (I know shame on me) and the oil level was still well in the safe zone. What you might want to check first, is make sure all of your pan bolts are tight. My problem was all the bolts on the front of the pan were so loose I removed them with my fingers. It may have just enough of a gap to leak when it is cold, but when everything gets hot, it all expands just enough to close that gap and stop the leak. Same concept with head gaskets that are just starting to go. When the head and block are cold it'll leak a little, then as it warms up everything expands and stops the leak.

Getting to all of the pan bolts can be a b**** if it's 4wd. Dropping the front diff and reassembling it is a PITA. However, if it is leaking from the pan, then you're stuck doing it anyway. Worst case scenario you have to replace the gasket. Maybe a few hours of work.

Oh yeah I've heard the stories of people having a grand old time with that front diff...don't let it scare you better to take care of it now. You don't want to have to pack a gallon of "just-n-case" oil with you everytime you go 4wheeling.

Actually I always bring just-n-case fluids just in case I need them lol.

I bought a bunch of new wrenches (wife wasn't impressed) just to drop the diff. Then I got down there on my back and quickly changed my mind. Now I have several pretty wrenches that haven't even been used.
