hey guys,
have a question, my oil level gauge on the dash is acting up, It right now reads that I have almost no oil at all, when I give the truck some gas it shoots up to the quarter way mark, I let the truck sit a bit after I got home and checked the dipstick, oil level is fine, the truck isn't overheating, idles great, sounds great, everything is working as it should, except the gauge was still reading very low, could this be the oil pump? No check engine light is going on, so I can't have the convenience of codes, reset the ECU? I don't know, what do you folks think

Well... sometimes it takes more than an hour to get an answer...

First of all, you don't have an oil level gauge on your truck... you have an oil pressure gauge. Since the oil pump is driven by the engine (rpm dependant), the higher the revs, the faster the oil pump turns, and the higher your oil pressure. What your describing is normal.

Holy Crap I am an idiot. For some reason i was under the thinking that the oil pressure gauge in my truck measured the oil level. My pop came home last night after using it (and I stayed up all evening worrying about it, especially after it started snowing, and wondering whether he knew how to use manual locking hubs) and told me my oil level was low, but it looks OK when I started driving it this morning after I reset the system.
