Oh crap... am i ruined?

I wast doing 45 and tried to shift into nuetral with a 1992 auto and i think i hit reverse. engine died and wheels squelched a bit. I pulled over, put it in park, starter her up and drive home fine. truck seems ok.

likely hood that i just screwed myseld?

please some1 put my mind to rest!

im a new yota owner and new to driving autos. I hope there is some sort of anti reverse something or other, and that i didnt blow up my tranny.

Doesn't seem you blew up the tranny if you drove home fine.

Yup! Lots of places to wet a line 'round here.

The transmissions are electronically controlled so it's likely it never hit R internally....if it did, I doubt the end result would be good.

If you ever make it up to north idaho i can get ya on fish up here. ive got my fingers cross and hoping for the best. maybe i shot past reverse and it hit park which caused the tires to lock?? only time will tell i guess, or hopefully some knowledge laden yota tech members can ease my mind.

Park/Reverse/Neutral/Drive operation is all manual. The electronics control shifting in drive and converter lock up. The only sensors in an A340/AW4 are for speed, temp and gear position.

If it locked the wheels and killed the engine, it went into reverse. I've done it more than once at speed in different vehicles (usually older American trucks). If it's not showing an obvious problem now... drive it and quit dicking with the shifter when you're driving.
