Noisy Valves

Noisy Valves
I go a 1995 4Runner w/a v6, she has about 190,000. The engine hesitates when I step on the gas, and the valves are pretty noisy when I go up a hill or when I speed up. I think that I need to have my valves adjusted but I want to make sure this engine will last before I spend 400 for a valve job plus another 250 for an oil leak she has. I know toyotas are known to last, is it recommended to do this on an engine with these many miles?

3VZE engine is not too bad....my 4runner has 203k miles, just put new headgaskets and adjusted the valves. now it runs little better. if you thinking of keeping your 4runner for a while, I would. have you ever replace the headgaskets on yours?

I'm going to have a shop do the work. So far the dealer has quoted me 475 and two independent shops are asking 375 and 410 for labor and seals on the valve covers and plenum. I intend on keeping this thing until she won't drive and then I'll probably get a used engine from Japan. I haven't replaced the head gasket, I was thinking about it; what are the symptoms she needs one? I just replaced the plugs, they were clean there's no oil leaks except for the oil pan.

Im not a 3vz expert but I hear the injectors are noisy in those. Probably wouldn't hurt to check the valve lash, if you are mechanically inclined a bit you should get your on and save some hard earned!
HG blown= white smoke from exhaust, sweet smell, bubbles under oil cap, chocolate milkshake looking oil....youll know when it goes lol
