Anyone ever had a noisy distributer? This cold morning I had a loud noise coming from the dis. Tonight I am going to clean off the cap and brush. Ya think it could be the oil seal and bearings?

Yes. Can you wiggle the shaft in there? I've never rebuilt one but I'm sure its possible.
Did it run fine while it was making the noise?

Sure it's the distributor? Which engine?
I had the power steering pump tensioner pulley let go and when it started, it sounded like it was coming from the distributor.

A mechanics stethoscope is handy in cases like this. But bearings in distribs do go bad - at least, the one on my 3vze did. Squealed terribly when very cold.

It is actually on my 97 Jeep 4.0L. Sorry to post here but I always get good advice from you guys.

I am pretty sure it is from the distributer it is pretty isolated. Although, located right behind the AC so I could be wrong. Going to take it apart and clean it this weekend. Will let you know what I find.
