noise when braking

When I brake there is a noise that comes from the front of my 4runner. Its louder the harder i press on the brakes and it kinda sounds like "guhhhh" if that makes any sense. I don't really know much about brakes but what does this mean?

it depends, if it's more of a grinding noise I'd have them checked, I'm not too sure what a guhhh noise is though.

sounds like something is stuck between the brake pad and the rotor. Take the tire off and look at the pads. Even before that you can try backing up a few times and intermittently apply the brakes to see if something dislodges. Just sounds like you have some crap in there.

contamination such as brake fluid or grease on the pads can also make a groaning noise, if it's not covering much of the pad

I would just remove the tires and take a peek.. Looks for anything abnormal.. Worn pads/rotors, gunk on the braking surface...etc..

Well, that shouldnt do anything.. It wouldve burned off the first time you used the brakes. Though it wasnt good for your pads though
