Angry Noise in new rebuilt rear diff? break in noise? HELP!!!

Hey guys, so I just got done rebuilding my rear diff today the set-up is, 5.71 gears with a spool and solid collar. The pinion bearing pre-load is dead on perfect and the pinion depth and the back lash is right in spec also. Bearings are all brand new with a trail-gear kit. It turns nice and smooth and when I went to put it into my axle housing it echoed a noise that sounded like a rubbing noise. I pulled the diff and double checked everything and all of the clearances to make sure there was nothing making contact that shouldn't. After putting it back into the housing I put the shafts back in and assembled everything and put some fluid into the axle just in case the noise was from the diff being dry. It still does it! Now that I really listen to it though, it makes a continuous sound in pattern of the pinion/ring gear contact(basically a humming noise) The ring gear and pinion ARE USED but in great shape, is this a break in noise? or is something seriously wrong here?!

PLEASE HELP!

How was your contact pattern? Did you take any pics? I'd email Zuk of www.gearinstalls.com with a pic of the pattern, as that's the only way anyone is going to be able to help.

Best of luck

I've heard of break-in noise with new ring an pinon on occasion, but I would be suspicious of it happening on a used set. Take it back out, mark the gears, take a pic of the pattern, and go from there.

Does the front make a noise too?

BTW, I've seen that Supra somewhere........ SupraMania?

Yeah im on supramania and supraforums haha. I didn't do the front diff just the rear one, im just suspicious something is wrong all together, I'm not sure a used set should make noise either unless maybe since the contact points have most likely changed? I e-mailed ZUK just waiting for him to chime in, I'm just about fed up since I drive this truck everyday and would just like to get it back together. I may try taking another picture if I have time, like I said right now I'm just getting opinions and waiting on ZUK, anyone else have any similar problems?

ZUK! honestly I have no idea and when I asked for them I was told they were "lost" so after digging around for some info for myself to go on, I retract my first post and I'm not so sure it was even done right to begin with and, I'm really not looking to ruin a good rebuild kit since it hasn't hit the road yet to damage anything. As far as the gear I didn't see a company stamp on it anywhere, I saw a few numbers and other than that I just know there are 40 teeth on the ring and 7 on the pinion so maybe its just a crap set up all together? and was worn funny previously?

Chances are that the noise has more to do with the gear install itself. Used gears that are beat up can produce a small chirp or low level whistle sometimes but probably not the noise you mention.

Is that noise the same on both excel and de-accel?
