Noise in 2wd goes away in 4wd
Hello everyone,I got a 91 V6 (ADD) and the truck makes a noise that sounds like the wheel bearings are shot.It makes the noise in 2wd but when I shift to 4H or 4L the noise goes away.I think its the wheel bearings or cv axles but I dont understand why the noise that sounds like bad wheel bearings goes away in
4WD.I checked for bad bearings and the tire/hub does'nt have play.I really appreciate any help.Thanks.

That makes total sense. My cv axes have had torn boots for years and I have a feeling that it's not the bearings and it's the axles making the noise.Im going to pick a part 50% off weekend and get axles with good boots ($15 each axle) and repack or replace the bearings while Im at it.I figure if the axles have good boots that the odds are that they're good.Im low on cash so my options are limited.
