no power in 4 & 5 gear now

I just had to replace the head gasket on my 86 truck, 22RE engine. Had the head milled, new valve stem seals, new wires, plugs, Double checked the timing on the cam but still do not have power in 4th and 5th gear at 2500 rpm and above. I am concerned about the cat being plugged is this a possible thing causeing my power loss. The timing is 5 btdc. and have checked the valve lash and corrected where needed. please help me with any thoughts..

did it throw a code when you unpluged the o2 sensor if so then that would mean that your o2 sensor was good but this is not making sense and isnt your timing soppoused to be set at 0 not at 5?

if your timing is off that would explain why you wouldnt have power in 4 and 5 gear

the timing is supposed to be at 5 btdc according to the book when you short out terminal t... and it never showed a code when i unplugged the o2 sensor or before, i just got more power in 4 and 5th gear. i couldnt get above 65 untill i unplugged it.

been looking at this forum and it seems that maybe the tps is bad or needs adjusting. when i shorted the terminal t and set timing it never changed when i removed the jumper. my fuel milage is horrible as well. Is it common for the sensor to go bad or need adjusting after removing the intake to replace the head gasket. I am still going to replace the o2 sensor but not to sure that is the prob now?

you can adjust them with a multimeter and no its not common to have to replace or adjust them after that

I unplugged the tps last night before i left work, and there was no change in the truck and no CEL ??? I am going to try to get home before dark tonight to check the tps, but was curious if anyone had any ideas about why i am not getting a code. I did finally get a cel with just the o2 unplugged but when i slowed down it went away, so i plugged everything back in as of right now. please any thoughts, i am replacing the o2 sensor this weekend.
