Newbie Question: 1st gen 1989 4-runner
Ok, it's my first 4-runner so I'm learning as I go. Here's my question:
I recentely bought a 1989 4-Runner for $1,600. It's loaded with every option that I'm aware of. V-6 and 5-spd w/ 238k miles and runs great.
When I purchased it, the rear window would not work, up or down. The previous owner was told that it was the regulator and bought a replacement. Before replacing it, I checked the original and it worked fine. I bought a replacement switch on ebay but this did not cure the problem. Then I replaced the relay behind the drivers seat.
After installing the new relay, the window rolls up and down just fine. However, after running the window down, then back up, it will not roll down again until I turn the key off the ACC position, then back on again, as if I am resetting the relay..........
Is this normal? It works fine if I turn the key off of the ACC postion everytime. I would think that it should work as many times as I want, up and down, but it will only cycle once until I turn the key off, then back on again.
I can live with this, it just doesn't seem right.
Thanks for any input you can provide. So far, this site has been a wealth of info and I appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum and that's a nice looking truck. I can't tell you what's wrong with it but it's not normal. My 1st gen runner's rear window will go up or down as many times as I want with out moving the key back to "off". There's alot of people way more mechanically inclined than myself and I'm sure someone will be able to help you out soon.
