newb intro with a ?
hi new to the forum and yotas. i just picked up an 89 4runner 5spd 22re, i traded a 1990 240sx for it. its got 182XXX miles on it, seems to be in overall pretty good condition. ran pretty good on the way home. i got it knowing it needed a new timing chain, ive got that just about finished up but with 1 issue: when pulling the crank pulley i messed up the threads a little bit with my pulley puller and was wondering what the thread size/pitch is so i can get a thread tap and clean it up a little ive searched and googled but cant find shizz. thx
here it is the day i brought it home. i have since removed the side steps and got a newer drivers seat. super retro paint job .
busted ass tchain guides
my friends dad just picked up this badass rig. pic is from previous owner

Do you already have the cam chain guides? If not, you might look into getting an upgraded guide with a steel outer.
I don't know what the thread pitch is. You can measure it though. Measuring the diameter is easy, then count how many threads are in 10 mm. Divide 10 by that number, and you'll have the thread count. I.E. 20 mm diameter. 8 threads per 10 mm On the calculator: 10; divide button; 8 = 1.25 (20 mm X 1.25 mm *JUST A MADE UP EXAMPLE!!!* THIS IS NOT THE ACTUAL THREAD PITCH!!! At least, it probably isn't the actual pitch.)
Good luck, and welcome to yotatech! Since you already have the valve cover off, go ahead and check your valve clearances. There are some really good threads on adjusting the valves on the 22R so that they're a little more quiet. That's the next thing I have to do to mine.

Oh good. I don't know why Toyota used plastic guides in the first place. LAME!
It can be kind of hard to count threads, at least for me, but you should end up with a number that makes sense after you calculate it out. I had to do this about a week ago, and I knew that it couldn't be 1.43 mm or 1.11. The thread on that is probably a 1.5 mm, which is 6.66666667 threads per 10 mm. If you count about 7 threads, that should be it.
