New sound - 3vze
had some recent problems with my air intake system, that i remedied with a couple good shots of throttle body cleaner through the plumbing and tb itself. based on the amount of carbon i saw and the frequency of issues in that area i decided it'd be a good idea to pull off the plenum and really clean 'er out. two cans of cleaning, but did it ever need it.
everything was goin good til i started putting things back together. man there are alot of vacuum, fuel and coolant hoses. solets just say, i've put it together and took it all apart more than once.
anyways i got it all back together and start her up. runs smooth but sounds a lil deeper. i figure its just the better air flow. so rev it up sonds good but there is a vibration/ deep gurgling sound coming from the opposite side of the plenum from the tb.
i've tried to go back through everything and make sure its all torqued down but the sound persists. its very similar to the sound i get from the isr mod when wide open. i think air is escaping from somwhere during decompression, but where?

do you mean you think there's a vacuum leak? with the engine running, spray around the intake and hoses with some carb cleaner while listening for a change in engine speed or pitch - when you hit the vacuum leak the engine should bog down just a tad

i know that wen i fully open the throttle (i got ISR) it has a very deep gurgling (i like to call it purring ) sound that i can only hear wen driving next to a wall. Just makes my mini truck sound that much bigger.

just read over my first post, the sound comes during decompression only. that is what makes it peculiar to me. cause it sounds like it is coming directly from the plenum.
the exhaust crosses over right close to there doesnt it? i wonder if it or maybe the intake manifold gasket has a leak?

what do you mean by decompression? Downshifting to slow down? I usually get a deep muffled "puff" or "pop" noise when I'm using the engine to slow down on hills, but this is coming out the exhaust . . . not sure what you're dealing with
