new door speakers installed

the speakers in my sisters truck where junk some sort of home made deal... so we went to wal-mart and seen these 6-1/2'' 4way sony gtx1640 on sale for $25 where like $119 and i had some good door panels after i butcher the rest of the old ones up to figure out where i liked them .... they sound great running off a jvc deck not even sure if i should bother putting in the 5.25'' ones in the rear cubbys

it does have wing windows

Looks good Elton. Just a note guys his sisters truck has wing windows so he has more mounting depth available. If you have full glass windows you need to check your depths carefully they have much less available space.

I have the wings too, I just haven't quite figured out how too make the panels have pockets in them, I'm planning on building mine for 2, 6 1/2" 2way mid range speakers, and 1 tweeter in each door.

The factory pockets on the sr5 models have pockets that attach to the panel from the back with a few screws.

Really?, well then, I guess I'm gonna have to find a sr5 truck, and take the door panels off from it, not to mention a couple other parts!

It doesn't matter if you have wing windows or not when installing 6.5" speakers in the door. You can install them in any toyota truck/4r as long as you have the speaker all the way to the front and all the way to the bottom. You will need an airsaw to do this. In the pic with the speaker in the door, you can see that there is about 3" from the bottom of the speaker to the bottom of the door panel. Thats pretty close to the window regulator...

5 Subs ? isnt that a bit overkill, why not buy one really good one and save some room , but yeah im not surprised that you need more midrange with that setup
